This colorful project is located in the Graduate Hospital Neighborhood of Philadelphia. The client needed a multi-functional outdoor space for entertaining guests and also relaxing at the end of the day. The sustainable solution we implemented allowed the small courtyard space to be utilized to its fullest potential and started with raised wooden planters that double as additional seating for guests. Carefree groundcover and miniature bamboo installations form the foundation for this low-maintenance outdoor living space. Tall vertical plantings maximize the square footage and emphasize the height of the space.

| Vertical plantings and green wall installations create unique landscaping opportunities in areas with limited space. In this project such plantings doubled the amount of plantable space in the courtyard, reduced the heat gain of the masonry walls and enhanced the existing features of the property. Other applications for vertical plantings include: providing a sound barrier, reducing water run-off and acting as a privacy screen between outdoor spaces.
